I just wanted to share my experiennces with everyone about what it's like to know that your father is an anonymous sperm donor. It's like grieving over the loss of a father that never was - and the grief and pain never goes away. I cannot say that I wish there never was sperm banks because that would be going against my own existence. I just really hate the situation and wish that I had a real father. hey08,
I don't know if any of us could give you advice about how to cope with growing up without a father. However, all of us could probably tell you how much you were wanted by your mother. Many people don't know this, but the process of going through AI is not short or easy. All of us must have great determination and love to build our families. Another thing to think about is that many of us, myself included, are married but were are dealing with fertility issues.
Know that you are not alone. Today children grow up with 2 moms, grandparents, 1 dad and no mom, ect... Some kids are created by accident and some are careful planned in petree dishes.
I little background on me, after raising me for 15 years, my father left. I dealt with a lot of abandonment issues. We all have our difficulties accepting our lot in life from time to time and it is unfortunate that we cannot choose how we come into this world or who are parents are. There is no such thing as the perfect situation and there is no such thing as normal. Just try to think about everything you have. A mother who wanted you so badly and a biological father who was such a giving person that he wanted to help someone to build their family. That loving nature of your mother and giving nature of your donor father are inside of you. That makes you pretty amazing. Good luck on your journey. ):)

somethingnew, When I read your reply to hey08, it brought tears to my eyes. Your words to hey08 were perfect. I hope they took your words to heart and that's why they never responded back. I'm going to use some of what you said to tell my son as he grows up so that I can hopefully avoid some of the issues that hey08 has(had).
