California Cryobank follows a variety of procedures to ensure that each donor is properly identified. As part of the identification process, a biometric hand key device is utilized.
Upon enrollment, the donor’s number is associated with a 3-dimensional measurement of his hand. The information is stored electronically. Prior to each donation, the donor must enter his donor number and place his hand for scanning. The system must indicate a positive match, or the individual will not be allowed to leave a specimen.
