This is my first post on this bullentin board, but I read it often and it has provided a lot of helpful info. I have just finished my first cycle of IUI with clomid (negative preg.) Has anyone heard of using more than one donor specimen for each IUI. During this cycle I had two IUI's 24hr apart and the counts for each specimen were good, but was reading today that when using frozen sperm using two specimens combined (same donor of course) only increases your odds and should be considered. Anyone else heard of this or tried. Secondly, while taking clomid for five days no symptoms, but now while waiting for my cylce to start since no pregnancy I have the worst PMS! I could cry at any given moment (so not me).
doneen, Welcome. I am on my 5 days of clomid at the moment. Emotional ... very much so. As far as 2 IUI's I would think it could only help. Certainly cant hurts. I asked my Dr if I should do 2 IUI's ( dr assisted ) and he said "no" he did not feel it would be needed. I hope he is correct. Sorry you are waiting for AF .. maybe it wont come :) Baby dust to you!!
BaileyBaby, From my own experience, when my partner and I were trying for our first child, I tried both once IUI a month and 2-3 a month. And believe it or not the month that I got pregnant we only did 1 dr. assisted IUI. That was also the protocol at my doctors office, was only 1 IUI a month. This time, now we are trying for our second child I have also did both 1 IUI, and 2 IUI, since the dr.'s office changed the protocol, and still have not had any luck. When talking with my dr. what she told me is that she didnt think it mattered for me if I did 1 or 2, we know that I can get pregnant with only 1 IUI, so we are sticking to this route. Besides, it gets pricey with the meds, monitoring, bloodwork, extra IUI cost, and never mind the sperm cost! For us, we only have 1 vial left for a full sibling, so we were trying to conserve a little. I just got my BFN results yesterday from my bloodtest, so now I wait for AF to decide to show. As soon as she does than this will be cycle 5 for us. It took me 5 cycles for my daughter, hopefully this is our lucky month. Wish us luck, and good luck to everyone else. :p
crymel04, Thanks for the encouragement. This clomid is getting the best of me! My partner got up and went to starbucks at 6am to surprise me and because of the clomid all I did was complain. I feel so bad but its hard. I either want to cry or want to yell. Cant wait until I am done taking this stuff. But of course if I get pg than this has all been worth it:) I have a blood test on sun and than ultra sound on tues. I assume at that point Dr will know when to take the trigger shot and do the insem. As far as the "cost" of all of this all I can say is VISA!! LOL. I spent well over 2k doing it wrong at home so I am hoping the Dr will do better than I had. Someone on this board once told me.. until AF comes don't give up hope. I am passing those words onto you. Best wishes, I will keep you and your parnter in my thoughts
BaileyBaby, I'm glad that you are still trying. I truely believe that someday you will get your BFP. Like crymel04 I used only one vial per IUI and got my pos. after cycle number two. (I'm almost 9 weeks now.) I really think that it helps to give those little swimmers a head start. I'm not in a same sex relationship, but my husband and I dealt with a zero sperm count issue. He had surgery,(which failed) and we waited. I had surgery, and we waited. We started the AI process, and we waited. I know how frustrating that is. I even kept a year and a half long journal about our trials. (I wanted something to remind me when that kid is sreaming all night long!) We are all pulling for you. Keep us updated. Good luck.
