SO I have went through pretty much all of the boards and was wondering...has anyone been sucessful in the at home ICI? How many tries did it take? Thank you
lesrmh, Well, Bette and Tina gave up on the home ICI's and went to have the doctor do it. ;) OK, seriously, hopefully someone who has more than my soap opera knowledge will respond to you. Good luck!
lesrmh, Check legal consequences of not using a doctor. There are criminal codes in some states like GA and there also might be difficulty in 2nd parent adoptions.
My wife and I tried at home ICIs three (3) times. They weren't successful, but we've been going to a doctor too. We're on our 14th try and we're waiting to see if we're pregnant... tic-toc-tic-toc!
I actually did at home insems. The fourth try took. It was IVI ( intra vaginally ) same as if you were having intercourse. It ended in a chemical pregnancy, but my doctor said it had nothing to do with the sperm or using frozen, that chems aren't unusal. I tried another two times and I stopped (that was last november) I'm starting again next month, so it's been almost a year and I've decided to go with this cryobank.
So yes it does happen. It's a matter of timeing it correctly.
Hi Girls I'm going to attempt at home ICI's myself. My insurance company won't pay for my first 6 attempts and they want me to give them proof of my first 6 attempts (receipts and pregancy tests at my docor). I used to thaw cells at a previous job so figure it can't be too tough (the procedure, not the getting pregnant part which probably won't happen) My question, though, is how to get the sperm out of the little vial because the tip of a syringe won't reach down in there. CCB said they don't advocate at home ICI's and gave me a few websites but I still can't get a definite answer. They suggested a tube on the end of the syringe. Does anyone know where I can get this stuff and what gauge needle I should buy. The vial is only going to be 1cc so I can't use the usual larger syringes that people with a fresh specimen can use. Any info or websites would be much appreciated! thanks! -Karen
