WHY DO YOU PROVIDE TWO KINDS OF ANCESTRY INFORMATION?
DNA Ancestry provides insight into where a donor’s ancestors originated, but it doesn’t capture the donor’s experiences and cultural identities that may have been passed down for generations.
We collect donors’ self-reported ancestries to provide a comprehensive picture of the donor’s background. Although some donors’ self-reported ancestries may differ from one of the 26 groups that can be identified by DNA testing, having both pieces of information can help you choose a donor and provide your future children even more details about their ancestry.
